Dental Bar Stands With Ukraine

Like many of you, Dental Bar has been devastated by the pictures and stories coming out of Ukraine. The war is very personal as Kharkiv, Ukraine is Dr. G’s hometown and she still has many family and friends whose lives have been shattered by this violence.

We know that it is personal for many of you as well, and since the war began, we have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support. We are so grateful for your kindness. The Dental Bar community has shown us how lucky we are to call you patients and friends.

The people of Ukraine are in desperate need. There are a great number of charities working to address these needs, some established and some that have just sprung up. Below are two charities we are supporting and one of our own efforts that we are working:

United Help Ukraine – A Gaithersburg-based organization that has been working to support Ukraine since shortly after the annexation of Crimea. They support a variety of causes including delivering medical supplies to the Ukrainian government as well as those organizations supporting displaced people. You can donate HERE.

UN High Commissioner on Refugees – The UNHCR is currently supporting the displaced peoples of Ukraine. But at this time, it is important to note that this refugee crisis on Europe’s doorstep is not the only refugee crisis in the world today. The UNHCR has a long history of working to support refugees and asylum seekers the world over. You can contribute to the UNHCR HERE.

Jobs for Ukraine – Because of our personal connections, Dental Bar is working to match contract work opportunities with Ukrainian refugees where possible. Many of these individuals are well-educated professionals, fluent in multiple languages including English. They are now left with little more than what could fit in a suitcase. In these times, the ability to provide for one’s own family doesn’t just represent food and a roof, it represents hope. If someone you know has been displaced due to the violence in Ukraine and is seeking employment, or if you are able to provide remote-work opportunities to those in need, please reach out to our office. This is currently a very low-tech effort (we don’t have the development skills needed to do it any other way!) and we cannot guarantee that we will be able to find a match. But we assure you that we will do everything possible to connect opportunities to those in need.

War can undoubtedly bring out the worst in us. But it also reveals the best in us. And even the smallest act of kindness can mean the world to someone in need. Thank you for making a difference.
